Projects
The FungiFill project aims to develop and market biodegradable infill for synthetic turf, replacing rubber granules, whose use will be banned in Europe by 2031 under Regulation (EU) 2023/2055 due to their negative environmental impact.
Our solution utilises renewable materials, adaptable to the specific needs of each field, with local production, low costs, and reduced energy consumption.
The FungiFill project also invests in digital technologies to optimise production, fosters innovation, creates new economic opportunities, and positions the company to lead the transition to more sustainable turf, with the support of research and development funding.
MycoReScale – Recovery and Scaling of a Mycelium-Based Biotech Platform aims to restore and expand Nutrivalley’s production capacity following the extreme weather events that affected the Leiria region. The operation supports the completion of the pilot production facility and the scaling of LusoTurf, a sustainable mycelium-based infill for synthetic turf.
Objectives and expected results
The project will reinforce the team and production infrastructure, optimise and validate the biomaterial, conduct pilot-scale production and field demonstrations, and prepare the technology for certification, market entry and European expansion.
Financial support
MycoReScale represents an investment of €250,000, provided by Portugal Ventures through the Call Leiria Recuperar. The operation is financed by Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) with support from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
